TRENDSETTER: Levi’s First Worldwide CMO Jaime Cohen Szulc talks about Trends Affecting Marketing Now

Jaime Cohen Szulc has a varied background. He has worked in consumer goods marketing for SC Johnson in Brazil, had roles in both Switzerland and New York for Kodak, and is now based in San Francisco for Levi Strauss & Co.

In a recent interview in The Internationalist, conducted by his long-time friend Marcelo Salup, he talks about the dynamics of an iconic brand like Levi’s jeans and the challenges of marketing globally.

However, he also believes that there are a handful of items that will affect marketing and communications in 2010 and 2011.

According to Jaime Cohen Szulc, four key trends are influencing the “here and now.” They include:

1. Digital is here to stay

2. No matter the size of the company, it is about consumer engagement and advocacy—pull vs. push.

3. Integration across the touchpoints matters now-- not fragmented messages.

4. Good marketing today is about the consumer experience across every touchpoint.
